Climeworks
The gift of carbon dioxide removal. This unusual proposition is something that your eco-warrior will love! Climeworks removes carbon dioxide directly from the air, which is then stored safely and permanently underground. What’s clever about this is that it removes historic CO2, i.e. the carbon dioxide that has been kicking around for some time and that needs to be removed to keep global warming under control. It also means removal of unavoidable CO2 emissions. Another clever aspect is its speed: within only five years from the purchase, CO2 is removed from the air and stored underground – this is at least twice as fast as planting trees. And it differs from other methods through its permanence and safety: no risk of releasing the CO2 back into the atmosphere through burning, rotting, etc. This air-captured carbon dioxide is removed for good!
Climeworks works with big organisations, such as Stripe or Shopify, to help them remove their carbon footprint but it is also available to people like you and me. For as little as €7 per month, you can remove 85kg of carbon dioxide from the air per year, the equivalent of around 4 trees, in the name of your favourite conservationist.
Together, as gifter and recipient, you’ll be making a difference in the world and helping to ensure this Christmas is truly climate-positive.

Azur
A circular skincare business with the goal of keeping packaging out of the ocean born in Bondi Beach, Australia. Azur Pure Skincare has a range of products for face and body made locally on the New South Wales Coast with premium vegan, natural, and organic ingredients suitable for all skin types.
Over a year of research and development went into identifying the most effective natural active ingredients to plump, smooth, and regenerate the skin to counter damage from the strong Australian sun: Bakuchiol, hailed as nature’s retinol, sugar cane-derived Squalane, detoxifying Blue Spirulina and the incredible naturally blue Blue Tansy, the super-ingredient of skincare that can soothe many skin concerns. In 2018, Anna Chatburn set out to make a range of refillable products that are effective, convenient, exciting and covetable after being left uninspired by the plain liquid castile soap available for refilling in her local health food shop.
Concerned about plastic waste in the ocean, Chatburn wanted to go beyond the limitations of recycling by establishing a closed-loop packaging system. Azur packaging is mostly glass, aluminium, and paper. Each product has a refill version that’s either packaged with an aluminium lid (for liquids) or in a compostable pouch (for dry products). Plastic is kept to an extreme minimum with no single-use plastics; only the wash and lotion pumps are plastic, and customers keep and reuse those. The refill system is an Australian-first offering free empties returns via post, using a carbon-neutral courier company to pick up empty bottles and jars from customers’ doorsteps to be sanitised and reused.
Azur celebrates the natural wonders of Australia through botanical ingredients and responsible packaging, the rows of wavy circular dots reflecting Azur’s circular system designed to protect our oceans. Enjoy 10 percent off with the code ‘SUBLIME’.
LIVE WANDA
Experience the power of bamboo charcoal, a natural and sustainable way to transform the taste of tap water. Made from Moso bamboo and activated through intense heat, the Wanda filter’s unique properties remove unwanted tastes and odours. The result is delicious, purified water without the use of plastic – good for you and even better for the planet.
Wanda bamboo charcoal is extremely porous with a surface area of over 126 tennis courts. Millions of tiny holes bind impurities chemically through adsorption, ensuring salts and minerals are not stripped in the filtering process. Wanda’s mission is to help people rediscover tap water, reducing the environmental impact of single-use plastic bottles. What’s more, the filters are 100 percent compostable – after use, they can be crushed and scattered in the garden to fertilise and aerate the soil.
Unlike hardwood trees, bamboo regrows after harvesting in the same way that grass grows after cutting. It can grow up to a metre per day and doesn’t require much watering, pesticides, or fertilisers. Bamboo forests also contribute to the regulation of the environment by absorbing carbon dioxide, producing oxygen and controlling soil erosion.
The Wanda filter is the ideal stocking filler, or it can be paired with the specially designed, hand-blown borosilicate glass Wanda Carafe (1.3L) or Water Jar (5L) for a thoughtful Christmas present. Enjoy 10 percent off with the code SUBLIME10.
Mayamiko
Though it started out as a charity with the aim of empowering women through training and new opportunities, Mayamiko has evolved into a social enterprise that has been developing since 2014 as a responsible clothing and lifestyle label with women at the heart of everything. The main collections of Mayamiko clothes and accessories are made in Malawi, and give ode to their birthplace through the use of locally hand-picked exclusive chitenje fabrics sourced from a women’s cooperative.
Collections are cross-seasonal, designed for the global woman and inspired by the many world artisans Mayamiko partner with, and the luxury linen used to create made to order items takes advantage of this natural material’s wonderful properties.
As part of their zero-waste philosophy, Mayamiko started turning their cotton offcuts into reusable sanitary kits to help end period poverty. Partners including There Is Hope Malawi and Amurtel Greece help to distribute these to the most vulnerable women and girls, including those living in refugee camps. The brand also brings together other organisations empowering women from around the world, which is why they created plant-dyed accessories in partnership with Amma Sri Lanka and beautifully handmade brass and responsibly-sourced teak jewellery from Malawi-based Yewo, alongside their own collections.
Dedicated to putting people and the planet at the heart of their process, Mayamiko are proving that shopping ethically and sustainably does not compromise on quality or design, but rather adds to its value while empowering all those along its production lifecycle. When you purchase an item for Mayamiko you can rest assured it has been made with love under ethical conditions, in a solar-powered workshop where the women artisans are paid fairly and treated with care, while being provided with childcare support, transport and nutritious meals. PURE SHAVE
The fundamental ethos behind the PURE SHAVE brand since its inception has been eco credentials. The vast amount of waste produced by consumers and producers alike is truly worrying – everything we can do now to change our consumer habitats will pay massive dividends in our futures. Each product in the PURE SHAVE range is therefore refillable, reusable or recyclable, dedicated to reducing waste.
PURE SHAVE’s signature shaving cream is housed in a stylish 150ml aluminium pump bottle, avoiding the need for a CFC propellant. The shaving cream was specifically developed to reduce razor burn, rash and bumps, and is so effective very little off the product needs to be used with each shave. It leaves the skin feeling soft, supple, and hydrated. It’s also vegan-friendly, and a customer recently said: ‘I have been shaving for 40 years, and have been searching for the holy grail since the start. I do believe this could be it; incredible product with so many virtues’.
Once the bottle is empty, PURE SHAVE offer an eco refill pouch, which holds enough product to refill your original bottle three times. And once the pouch is empty, PURE SHAVE encourages you to reuse it before you recycle – the possibilities are endless, from ice packs and freezer pouches for sauces to drink containers and seed planters.
The recently-launched Eau de Toilette AMBER, is the latest product to live up to PURE SHAVE’s ethos. Its outer sleeve packaging is made of seeded paper that, once planted, will compost and bloom into meadow flowers. AMBER’s aluminium flight case is designed not only to protect the product during shipping but also allows for a safe return to PURE SHAVE for a refill. In fact, all postage packaging is made from recycled materials and is robust enough to be reused again before recycling. And if you’re after a full set, rest assured that the PURE SHAVE shaving towel is made from 100 percent organic cotton and sustainably sourced.
The Organic Boutique
Encouraging people to shop smarter can have a positive impact on society and the environment. The Organic Boutique philosophy is ‘what’s best for our planet, is best for our wellbeing’. The brand new online UK retail space sells exclusively certified organic products across beauty, fashion, health, lifestyle, and nutrition for the environmentally-conscious consumer. The vision of the business was formulated earlier this year when, like so many others, founder Dylan Teasdale experienced dramatic changes in his life due to the pandemic. He undertook a journey of exploration and appreciation for organic products and the positive impact they have on the environment. He wanted to create an online community where consumers could discover, shop, and support independent organic businesses all under one roof. The ultimate goal is to encourage new shoppers to embrace an organic lifestyle – Teasdale believes this is the best way to create a healthier world that allows us to be more environmentally aware and help build a better future.
As part of The Organic Boutique’s pledge to give back to the environment, they have joined forces with non-profitable charity One Tree Planted and, with every single purchase made, a tree will be planted on the shopper’s behalf to help reach the goal of planting 15M by the end of 2020. The Organic Boutique have also created a unique loyalty scheme in the name of DoGood. For every £1 spent, shoppers gain two points that can be donated towards projects like providing a meal to someone in crisis in the UK, reducing their carbon footprint by 50kg, or planting trees.
Built on principles of health, ecology, care and fairness, The Organic Boutique’s work aims to deliver a breadth of benefits to wildlife, society, and the natural world, from the brands they stock right down to the way they deliver their products.
Bluewater
What does the Cape Town film set of HBO series Raised by Wolves, the 2019 British Open golf tournament, and British world champion solo sailor Dee Caffari have in common? The answer is Bluewater, a Swedish water company which has built a reputation for its efficient, compact, under-sink water purifiers for homes, businesses, and public dispensing as well as refillable water bottles for those on the go.
Bluewater purifiers and bottles used on the Wolves film set hydrated actors and film crew in harsh African outback environments, replaced the need for 100,000 plastic bottles at The Open in Northern Ireland, and helped Dee Caffari keep thirst at bay when sailing the oceans.
Bluewater was launched in 2013 by Swedish environmental entrepreneur Bengt Rittri who wanted to deliver green, clean, and healthy water purifier and bottle solutions to help end the need for the gut-wrenching 500 billion plastic bottles produced every year. With most of these unrecycled, microplastics are now in the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink. Bluewater harnesses human ingenuity to supply purification tech designed to remove most water contaminants, including EDC chemicals, pesticides, toxic metals, viruses, bacteria, and microplastics.
The desire for a beautiful planet saw Bluewater recently launch a range of reusable stainless steel and glass bottles for eco-minded consumers seeking style, quality, and green credentials. Available in head-turning colour options Deep Blue, Powder White, and Just Black, the bottles are visually stunning with form-follows-function design able to keep drinks cold for up to 24 hours or hot for 12 hours, making them ideal for trekking, beach life, family picnics, workouts, and overall hydration.
Avallen Spirits
Made from nothing but apples, water, and time, Avallen is on a mission to be the world’s most planet-positive spirit. The brand not only protects the orchards in which their apples grow, but are proud to be ‘bee-positive’, doing everything in their power to protect the fuzzy-winged warriors so vital to our survival. And because they are sustainable to their very core, even their labels are made from apple pulp waste.
Avallen, which means ‘apple tree’ in Old Cornish, was spirit born from a simple question: what’s the most delicious, sustainable spirit we can make for all to enjoy? The journey to discovering the answer led the Avallen team to Normandy, the orchard of France and the spiritual home of Calvados. Since then, the characteristic floral, fruity flavour has been produced entirely in La Manche, aged for two years in French oak before being bottled with no added sugar, caramel or boisé, proudly apple-forward with hints of spice and vanilla.
Mix Avallen with a tonic or ginger ale, shake it into a cocktail, enjoy a warming sip of it served neat at Christmas, or pour a drop or two into your home-baked treats. Head over to our site for plenty of delicious recipes.
