This Black Friday, we are pleased to introduce Green Friday, the sustainable alternative. We encourage you to buy from companies that care for our planet.
Vivo Life, a health and fitness company is supporting this in a number of ways. This Green Friday, Vivo Life will be donating 10% of revenue to charities, planting 10 trees for every order on their website, offering a 15% discount on all products, giving away a free sustainability guide, and as always, delivering their products via carbon neutral delivery.
Vivo have chosen three charities which help support areas most affected by climate change: People, Planet and Animals. The charities they’ve chosen are as follows:
Help Refugees
Climate Refugees are defined as people who have been forcibly displaced as a result of environmental factors caused by climate change and natural disasters. Every year since 2008, 26.4 million people are forced to leave their homes due to severe weather events such as flooding, earthquakes, hurricanes and droughts.
The money Vivo Life raises will go towards funding projects in 14 countries across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and on the US-Mexico Border. The money will help support for long-term programmes around housing, education, training as well as emergency services and responding to the ever-changing context to ensure that the very basic needs (food, nappies etc) are met.
Cool Earth
Cool Earth works with rainforest communities to halt deforestation and its impact on climate change. They believe that effective conservation is only possible when local people who are uniquely suited to manage and protect rainforest are put first.
The donation will go towards funding Cool Earth’s ‘Time for Nature’ forest conservation project in Papua New Guinea and the ‘Rainforest Satellite Data’ project in Peru.
Born Free
Born Free is committed to protecting threatened species in their natural habitats and preventing animal suffering. Its purpose is to conserve and protect wild animals, natural habitats and functioning ecosystems in perpetuity, and to end any activities that exploit and negatively impact wild animals whether living in captivity or in the wild.
The project Vivo Life will be funding is the Chimpanzee conservation in East and West Africa – vital funds are needed to prevent the extinction of chimpanzees.
Hitesh Patel – Head of Sustainable Partnerships at Born Free comments:
“We’re thrilled to be a part of Vivo’s Green Friday campaign. The contributions raised as a result of this campaign will go towards supporting our Bulindi Chimpanzee and Community Project in East Africa – a project that is in vital need of funds. Unfortunately, the Bulindi chimpanzees are currently at risk of becoming extinct due to the degradation of their habitat. This project aims to work with farmers and their families to improve awareness, reduce conflict between people and chimpanzees and restore critical habitat by planting native and food tree seedlings on their land. We cannot be more thankful to Vivo and their lovely customers for choosing back this project and make a difference to the planet.”
Pre-sale sign-ups are open from 18th November-midnight 24th November on the Vivo Life website, and the offering will run over the Green Friday weekend from the 27-29th November with pre sale sign ups gaining access 48hrs before the general sale. vivolife.co.uk
