EOHO Spot: Jolie Chelsea
Sublime heads west for a truly laid-back Jolie evening cocktail-n-dinner experience
Since opening its doors this September, Jolie has had an overwhelmingly positive response from both public and press during its few days in operation. Upon first impression, I begin to understand why – we are greeted with a warm scenic atmosphere, inviting us to spend the evening in a very “je ne sais quoi” setting, and just relax.
Despite lockdown restrictions and safety regulations, the seating arrangements are comfortable, offering a choice of table, bar or lounge-style to suit your plan and mood. The super chill and funky vibe all around felt buzzy and fun, but also allowed for conversation without shouting – a perfect a balance makes it ideal to catch up with friends over a drink, dinner or both.
The range of cocktails is inspired in the smells and auras of different regions in France. We tried the Versailles, Cognac and Honfleur which were complex in nature and flavour, and truly a step beyond our expectations.
The menu is creatively organised under themes that group three-dish combinations. But we went random and picked a few dishes from each, some recommended and some our own choice. The Burrata with Heritage Tomatoes, the Vegan ‘Mock Duck’ Salad and the Mini Cheese Fondue were all equally enjoyable, but the Wild Mushroom croquettes with Tarragon Mayonnaise were the highlight – truly divine!
Not to be missed is the house signature feature: get to stroke the Unicorn dispensing free flowing champagne! What’s best than to close the evening with bubbles – and subsequent tipsy giggle?
Jolie sits on the ground floor of the 3-story Chelsea Funhouse, occupying a historic building previously known as The World’s End Distillery. Once done with dinner, you can spend the rest of the evening lounging on cosy sitting at the Espresso Martini Bar – inspired by the legend of Chelsea Black – on the first floor, or head down to play WW2 Enigma code-breaking games at The Bletchley bar and win a personalised cocktail mixed!
This quaint, unique spot with lots of character is surely set for enjoying unpretentious French cuisine and fun cocktails with a twist. Its very unique signature décor salon style offers both Londoners and visitors to the city something truly unique and special.
Reservations for Jolie are now open. Full menu and other details can be found at joliechelsea.com. EOHO scheme with 50% off the total bill including drinks and no upper limit runs throughout October. Make sure you book online for Monday to Wednesday dinner service.
