The Secret Hack to Life

We’ve all heard about emotional intelligence, but I believe the next big thing in self-development is energy awareness. This is a term I’ve coined that describes the ability to read energy. In my new book “Aura Power – A guide to Healing, Energy and Enhancing Your Outer glow” I make the invisible tangible, practical and endlessly useful. If you are ready for a transformative exploration of your energetic landscape, read on.

Energy Field Notes

You might not have noticed it, but you’ll often find yourself referring to energy in the way you talk. A room can feel heavy, a friend uplifting, a conversation draining. These instinctive observations emerge in our daily language, but we seldom examine the significance. In Aura Power I freedive deep into this familiar vernacular to unpack exactly what is going on under the surface.

Emotional intelligence helps us to identify and articulate our feelings whilst energy awareness allows us to sense the impact of those feelings on the world around us. It helps us understand how they land, linger, and affect our daily experiences of life.

I’ve been studying energy medicine for more than two decades, most of my adult life. I began practicing professionally in my Harley St. clinic in 2017 and became one of the first energy healers to bring Reiki to UK mainstream attention. The press loved this new wellness “trend” and I was featured widely. Soon Penguin came knocking and my first book Essential Chakras – Find Your Flow was published in 2020. It served as an introduction to the chakra system and the inner energy anatomy.

Now, with Aura Power, I’m moving the conversation on, to encourage readers to observe how this inner circuitry radiates outwards. Your aura is your lived experience expressed energetically. It’s always been my desire to normalise energy healing work and make it accessible. My goal then and still now is to shift the concept of energy away from something abstract and into something tangible… common sense even.

Coming from a family of conventional medics, you can imagine how unrelenting the cynicism may have been. Thanks to them and perhaps also my former career in marketing, building global fashion brands, I’ve been trained to communicate simply, in a non-mystical and decidedly modern way. I make sure to include research papers, studies or lived evidence where possible when explaining concepts, and so I’m happy to say, both books benefit from a clear and contemporary presentation of ancient complex knowledge.

“Aura Power” explained

The book begins by reframing the aura. Rather than fixating on colours, rainbows and other cliches, I introduce the aura as part of a wider energetic ecosystem. We are micro within a macro environment and how we digest the world around us is crucial to the story. In as much as you might care about the quality of the food you eat, I consider the energy you consume to be just as important – it’s a message both simple and profound when you consider it.

My editor and I agreed that the book needed to be practical and useful, not just theoretical, so readers are guided through engaging exercises such as feeling energy between palms and noticing subtle signs or sensations. There are daily resets that integrate seamlessly into everyday routines (I find stacking practices into things I already do the only way to maintain the discipline.) Empowerment is the order of the day so I invite readers to test and notice rather than blindly accept what I say.

As the book progresses, I do then introduce the concept of aura colours. You learn how to see and read them, which is exciting. I describe the colours, not as something fashionable or as a means to communicate fixed personality types, but more as reflections of emotional patterns that are fluid and everchanging. One day if you are feeling strong and determined you may display a bright red, but another day if you’re annoyed about something, the shade might be a little murkier. It’s a nuanced approach not a definitive crystal ball.

One idea that I am fascinated with is that of personal magnetism, or what I like to call the “outer glow” as mentioned in the book’s subtitle. Why do some people effortlessly draw others in? I’ve learned that coherence (where thoughts, emotions and actions match up) plays a significant role in how magnetic someone is. When an individual’s energetic field is harmonious inside and outside, others intuitively sense that alignment, which gives rise to an instant attraction that is hard to ignore.

By the final pages, the aura no longer feels abstract. Instead, it becomes a working metaphor for the subtle ways people influence and are influenced by the world around them. Whether you approach the book as a spiritual framework or as a means to deepen your intuition, the invitation is the same: notice more, live more consciously and reap the rewards.

Conclusion

In a culture obsessed with quick fixes to optimise health and self-development, what makes the message in Aura Power different, is that it’s simply about how you live your day-to-day life. I’m trying to quietly shift the emphasis to presence. The questions I’m asking transform doing to being. “What can I do more of?” becomes “How does this feel? What is being exchanged? Where is my attention flowing?” and so on.

I’m convinced that energy awareness is the secret hack to life and when you get it right, it’s like having a super-power! This extra-sensory literacy is something that improves your relationships, work, creativity, style and is arguably an AI proof, future-facing skill. I urge you to explore the intricate and fascinating dance of energy that permeates every aspect of life. Once you learn it… everything makes sense.
