Johanna & Cecilia

In 2015, hairdressers Johanna Lindskoug and Cecilia Nilsson founded Bruns Products after experiencing job-related allergies and witnessing colleagues leave the profession due to health problems. Together, they developed a complete hair care line with high-quality, sustainable ingredients, all manufactured in Bruns’ own facility in Sweden.
BRUNS COLOR+, the latest addition to the Bruns product line, is set to redefine hair colouring. Traditional oxidative hair colouring products have been linked to health concerns, prompting Lindskoug and Nilsson to develop a solution that delivers exceptional results and enhances the well-being of hairdressers.

Unlike conventional oxidative hair dyes that contain potentially allergenic substances, such as ppd and ptd, BRUNS COLOR+ eliminates the need for two components and reduces the risk of allergic reactions. With a single bottle, this revolutionary product demonstrates that permanent hair colouring without oxidation is possible without compromising safety or the environment.

BRUNS COLOR+ stands out by combining beauty and sustainability. It uses synthetic pigments balanced with ingredients of natural origin and doesn’t contain harsh chemicals, making it better for the environment. Salons can even reuse leftovers, reducing waste. What’s more, BRUNS COLOR+ is unscented, making it suitable for everyone, especially those with sensitive scalps or fragrance allergies. The commitment to holistic hair care aligns with Bruns’ philosophy of achieving exceptional results while prioritising the hair’s health.

With 19 different shades, including 11 basic colours covering grey hair and 8 pigment colours, BRUNS COLOR+ empowers hairdressers to create limitless colour combinations. Whether you want a subtle tint, a temporary tone, or a permanent change, this product is versatile for various preferences.

In a bold move, BRUNS COLOR+ declares it’s changing the world, one hair at a time. By setting new standards in hair colouring, Bruns Products is making a positive impact on both hairdressers’ well-being and the environment.

Sarah Hall

Well Fit Active has been a passion project for serial entrepreneur, Sarah Hall. The UK-born activewear brand specialises in sports and leisure clothing for plus-size women, challenging the stereotype of females in sport as well as providing unique-design training attire for those just looking to improve their fitness.

The first designs were sketched on paper in 2017 after Sarah failed to find any suitable activewear that provided support, comfort, style or longevity for her plus-size body.

“Plus-size women have been under-served for years in fashion, let alone in fitness clothing. The options available for my 22-24 body were poor – ill-fitting leggings that didn’t stay up, sized-up crop tops that exposed my belly and boring baggy t-shirts. With nothing available to me, I decided to design my own!” Sarah Hall, Founder of Well Fit Active

Sarah worked with award-winning designer Lily Rice to create a range of activewear that really performed under pressure, so that women could wear Well Fit and feel confident, supported and stylish, allowing them to focus on the task in-hand and not on pulling up their leggings. The training tops have breathable, sweat-wicking panels under the arms and down the back and a secret cinch panel from bust to hip that can be tucked into leggings so that you can jump around without flashing your flesh.

Sarah had a strong commitment to sustainability and ethical manufacturing from the very first discussions of creating the range with the core collection being manufactured in the UK by a small team of activewear specialists. The leggings, tops, shorts, vest and hijab are made from recycled ocean plastic waste and can be recycled at the end of their lifespan.

On launching in January 2023, Well Fit attracted celebrities Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson, who immediately fell in love with the range of sustainable activewear. Available in UK sizes 8-30.

Aishwarya Lahariya & Adhiraj Shinde

The duo, who transitioned from textile scientists to co-founders of JIWYA, moved back from the US to their homeland, India, to embark on their entrepreneurial journey.

They spent over six months travelling 19,000 kilometers through 200+ cities across 19 Indian states. The idea was to visit the grassroots of India, in search of authentic textile artists throughout the country. Through the journey, they connected with 150+ textiles artists who practice heritage arts, passed through generations; way before plastics flooded our wardrobes.

“The move from the US to India was a passionate decision, we wanted to make an impact. We had both worked in various fields and tried our best to clean up. But we always came back to square one, wanting to do more. So, we decided to lead by example”, says Adhiraj. The co-founders have worked through many different textile applications. They have a few shared projects and papers, respective technical theses to their names and professional stints ranging from carbon fibers for aerospace, medical textiles, firefighters’ gears, green chemistry to textile processing of mass garments. This highly technical pair of scientists didn’t quite know until 2023 that their next leap would be in the world of fashion.

“Being insiders to the industry and having worked in research, we knew how textile industry relies on fossil fuel derived synthetic fibers like polyester. How it uses unsafe chemicals and finishes to make fast fashion. The problem is multi-faceted, so should be the solution. It cannot be a few greenwashed solutions scattered for marketing,” says Aishwarya who has co-founded another startup for plant-based fur. With their slow fashion brand- JIWYA, they present this multifaceted solution.

JIWYA is world’s first purely plant-based luxury brand powered by ethically sourced heritage Indian textile arts. Every fiber, colour, finish and embellishment on the products is made from plants. The transparent supply chain harnesses hundreds of local ecosystems and takes pride in zero-waste production. The designs are all curated and handmade. When you own a piece of JIWYA, you are the only one with that design.

David Clements

A visionary Chief Executive who founded FUTURE Designs in 1991,. He and the experienced team have grown the business to become one of the largest manufacturers of commercial lighting products in the UK and now distributes its own products across Europe, the Middle East and the USA. FUTURE Designs sits amongst the top UK privately owned lighting manufacturers within the fit-out marketplace, supplying luminaires for commercial offices, data centres, and infrastructure projects, including the new Elizabeth Line.

Sustainability has been central to FUTURE Designs manufacturing processes for many years, and it continues to lead the way in the circular economy for the lighting sector. It does this through the highly praised carbon carefulTM initiative, which ensures a second life for pre-used luminaires, in keeping with the mantra to ‘reuse rather than recycle.’ The process reuses existing light fixtures and adapts these from old fluorescent light source to LED. This transforms the luminaires into highly energy efficient, carbon saving products, prolonging the lifespan and drastically reducing carbon usage and overall costs.

To date FUTURE Designs has reused circa 97,000 end of life fixtures to illuminate in excess of 3,000,000sq. ft of office space in Britain alone and the quantity is growing week by week under the carbon careful™ initiative.
FUTURE Designs is now excited to bring carbon careful™ to the wider market. With a shift in attitudes within the construction industry towards the circular economy, there is greater interest and demand for re-use and repurposing as opposed to recycling. FUTURE Designs is now expanding its reach and actively offering the service to other lighting manufacturers who have the desire to act responsibly but may not have the facilities and expertise for this process.

David Clements, said: “This is yet another chapter in the story of our commitment. As the world is faced with a growing necessity to Refurbish, Reuse and Restore, we are leading the way with the hope that more organisations will follow suit.”
